Scarf Hold Escape
Knee on Belly Escape
Before looking at the escapes from Scarf Hold and Knee on Belly, we quickly reviewed the North South escape. As per usual there was a vast improvement in the execution of the technique the second time around. We then looked at two escapes in from the Knee on Belly position.
The first was a combination of a knee push and ankle pull:
The second was an ankle trap:
The technique can be executed by grabbing the sleeve, knee or belt, however the most important point is that you break your opponents balance and end in a pin or guard pass transition.
We then looked at an escape from scarf hold:
There are several important things to remember here:
1. Bridge - into your opponent to break his/her posture.
2. Knee - ideally it should be placed under your opponents hip, if you can't place it there, then it should be as far under your opponents body as possible.
3. Bridge - away from your opponent to reverse the hold.
We ended the session with a couple of rounds of sparring, well done guys.
